Guided Snowshoeing
If you want to go anywhere off the beaten path up here in the winter, you’re going to need snowshoes to do it! Due to our geographic location, we are usually blessed with a lot of snow, giving you the perfect landscape to enjoy a guided snowshoeing adventure.
We provide two types of experiences:
Trail snowshoeing – hiking trails, portages, and forest service roads make excellent snowshoeing trails in the winter. They are generally easier to navigate and packed from regular use. Traversing along lakes is a great ‘flat land’ option too, for those who want to avoid a lot of elevation.
Back country snowshoeing – For those seeking more adventure, we provide guided ‘back country’ snowshoe trips. These utilize previously scouted routes, but do not follow any official trail. The routes are selected to traverse overlooks, view unique rock formations, trek through interesting forested areas, access frozen swamps and creeks, etc. Identifying critter tracks along the way is virtually guaranteed.
Back country snowshoeing is not for everyone, but it does offer the chance to avoid crowds, see new territory, and truly enjoy the isolation of the wilderness. Snowshoeing of any kind requires good physical conditioning, and back country trips are more strenuous. At times bushwhacking through thick cover is required.
The condition of any route cannot be guaranteed and is based on the weather, usage, and current snow conditions.
