GWGS Policies
Be sure to familiarize yourself with GWGS cancellation, weather and waiver policies before booking your guided adventure.
Cancellation Policy
Plans change, emergencies arise, and sometimes life throws curve balls. We are happy to provide refunds of the $100 deposit based upon the following scale:
- More than 14 days prior – 100% refund (minus a $20 processing fee)
- 48 hours to 13 days prior – 50% refund (minus a $20 processing fee)
- 48 hours or less – no refund
GWGS reserves the right to cancel a trip at any time for any reason.
Weather Policy
The weather dictates everything up here. If the conditions are dangerous, we will be forced to cancel your trip at our discretion. We will make every accommodation to re-book your outing. Based upon schedules, we can sometimes push things forward or backward a day, trim a full-day into a half-day, juggle starting times, etc. However, if we are unable to reschedule, you will receive a full refund (with no processing fee).
If a trip is already underway, and your guide determines that unexpected weather requires it to be cut short, you will be reimbursed at a prorated cost. For example, if you book an eight-hour paddling trip, and the weather forces us off the lake three hours early, you will only be charged for five hours.
Please note that rain, fluctuating temperatures, reasonable winds, etc. are not considered ‘dangerous’ weather conditions. In addition, beaching boats for a period of time to ride-out passing weather systems is a common occurrence. It is just a part of recreating outdoors.
It is important you dress appropriately and anticipate weather changes throughout the outing. If you have questions, we are happy to advise on appropriate gear. As the saying goes – ‘there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing’.
For ice fishing trips – As stated by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources – ‘ice is never 100% safe’. Even across the surface of an individual lake, the ice conditions can change dramatically. In addition, the ice season can fluctuate wildly from year to year. Typically, our season lasts from mid-December through the end of March, but specific dates may need to be changed if mother nature decides differently.
Waiver Policy
All guests will need to sign a waiver document prior to any trip. Parents and guardians must sign for anyone under 18 years of age (or for individuals with a disability) that are under their care.
The waiver document will be shared with you prior to paying the deposit, so that you can read it before committing to a trip.
The signed document can be scanned and sent back to us anytime prior to your trip. Alternatively, your guide will have copies on-hand that can be signed immediately before your trip begins.
